I’m happy to announce that I’ll be presenting at SQLSaturday #275 in Copenhagen on March 29th!

I love presenting, especially so when it’s possible for me to do so alongside Powerpoints presenters view. Unfortunately I’m an even bigger fan of ZoomIt and I use it extensively when presenting. Why is that an issue? To use ZoomIt effectively, not just in demos but when showing slides as well, I need to duplicate my screen rather than extending it. Duplicating the screen means presenters view is not an option :(

I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be speaking at this years SQL PASS Summit in Charlotte, North Carolina. Having submitted several times before, unsuccessfully, I’m really happy to have made the cut this year. Looking at the lineup of speakers, I take great pride in being given the opportunity.

Seeing SQLSaturday events sprawling up all over the world makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Long have I been considering whether one might happen in Denmark, but to be honest, I didn’t think the audience would be big enough. I’m biased though as I’ve mainly attended events outside of Denmark, and thus most of my acquaintances have been non-Danish. But lo and behold, Régis Baccaro just announced that SQLSaturday #196 now has 101 registered attendees! And best of all, it’s held in Copenhagen on the 20th of April.

It’s been a long day, and I’m finally on my way home from Copenhagen to Aarhus. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the first day of the Warm Crocodile conference yesterday. Thankfully I was able to attend today, and even better, I got a chance to present my “Top X SQL Server Developer Mistakes” session today, and I’d like to thank everybody who showed up and helped fill the room to its limit. I got a lot of excellent questions during, as well as after, the session. If I missed yours, please do get in touch.

I’ve been to Slovenia many times, though only recently in a professional context, as I presented at NT Konferenca earlier this year. Several times, and from multiple people, I’ve heard about a local conference named Bleeding Edge, and how it was put together with nothing but level 400+ content with top quality speakers.

I’m really lagging behind on my blogging – life is busy as the moment! Just a couple of weeks ago I presented my Revealing the Magic session at the Norwegian Developers Conference in Oslo. I was quite excited to give my SQL Server oriented session to a crowd of developers – a 500 level session, at SQL Server events that is.

I presented two sessions at this years NT Konferenca. It was my first NTK, and what an NTK it was! I’m really hoping I’ll be back to present again – I’ve been to Slovenia many times before on non-technical visits, and now I’ve been able to confirm that they sure know how to run their conferences and cater for the attendees and speakers :)

As usual, I had a wonderful time at SQLBits X in London. Unfortunately I didn’t arrive until late Friday afternoon since I was flying in at the last minute from SQLConnections. I did however make it to the fabulous party and managed to get in bed early enough so I could be ready for my presentation on Saturday.

I presented my “Optimizing Storage and Performance Using Page and Row Compression” presentation today here at SQLConnections. Overall I think it went alright, even though I had to speed up a bit at the end due to lack of time – I really hope I’ll be able to get a 75 minute slot next time :)

Just before departing for SQLConnections in Vegas and SQLBits in London, I got notified that I’ve been selected for two presentations at the Norwegian Developers Conference in Oslo, June 6-8th!

Having presented at Miracle Open World back to back in 2010 and 2011, I’m excited to announce I’ll also be present in 2012! Not only will I be presenting, I’ll be presenting a full day track.

Las Vegas feels like home to me, ever since going there the first time at age 7 and looking at all those ever so banned-for-me slot machines. I’ve since gone there more times than I can count, including my 21st birthday – and what a difference that age does, in a city like Las Vegas. I’ve been to the CES conference, DevConnections (2007) and I’ve played a hand of poker or two, eventually ending up in me staying there for a month to participate in the World Series of Poker (finished #822 out of 8.773).

I’d heard many rumors about the excellent SQLBits session evaluation results that speakers are sent. Knowing the SSRS geeks on the SQLBits team, I’d expect nothing short of data & graph filled reports – and I’m glad to say they didn’t disappoint!

It’s 8:15 AM and I’m back at the bloggers table, ready for the day 2 keynote. The format will be the same as yesterday.

I’ve found my seat at the Bloggers Table, ready for the beginning of the keynote in just 12 minutes. I’ll be doing my best keeping up with all of the exciting news about to be spilled out.

I’m glad to announce that I’m one of the lucky few who’ve been appointed a seat at the coveted bloggers table during the PASS Summit keynotes. This means I’ll have an excellent view of the leynotes, and I’ll be live blogging and tweeting from both.

One of the most important aspects of presenting is to stay within the allotted time slot. You should aim at finishing exactly on time, neither exceeding nor finishing too early.

After getting back to Denmark from an excellent SQLBits 9, I’ve had a chance to reflect a bit on my experiences. Not just on SQLBits itself, but the very concept of attending conferences and how to get the most of it.

I’ve got a blog post coming up tomorrow on general SQLBits reflections (‘twas awesome), for now I’ll just post my session materials as promised :)

My fall schedule is starting to fall into place, and boy, is it a busy one. I am absolutely thrilled that I’ll be going to the three major SQL Server conferences this fall: SQLBits, PASS Summit and PASS SQLRally Nordic. While I’m thrilled that I’ll be attending, I’m even more thrilled, humbled and excited over the fact that I’ll be presenting at all three.

In collaboration with Trifork, I’ll be giving a free preview of my SQL Server Storage Engine and MDF File Internals training day at SQLBits.

The agenda for SQLBits 9 has been published (though it’s still provisional). It’s looking really, really good. Especially so when you consider the price of the event – you’ve got until the 26th of August to get the early bird price of £375 for two complete days of conference – PLUS a whole day of full day training sessions.

I’m honored to announce that I’ll be presenting my SQL Server Storage Engine and MDF File Internals precon at SQLBits on September 29th. It’s an amazing bunch of precon sessions and presenters, I didn’t think I’d be speaking at SQLBits, much less presenting a precon – given the lineup of speakers.

Last year I went on a marathon conference trip, starting out in LA at Adobe Max, continuing on to QCon in San Francisco before finally ending up in lovely Seattle for the PASS Summit.

Last week I attended the Miracle Open World 2011 conference. As in the previous years the 80% content, 80% social moniker held true to its reputation. My legs and arms are still sore from carrying four-man rubber rings to the top of the four-story waterslide – not the typical aftermath of a conference. I met a lot of new awesome people and managed to pull of a couple of presentations with decent success as well, judging from the responses I’ve had so far. I’ve included the slides & demo code for the presentations below.

On April 28th I’ll be giving a presentation at Aarhus .NET User Group on SharedCache. The presentation will be part of a combined event where Morten Jokumsen will be presenting Velocity and Jakob Tikjøb Andersen will be presenting Cassandra.

After getting some well needed sleep following Miracle OpenWorld 2010 and adhering to the we-do-not-use-sleep rule, I’m finally starting to get on top again, though my body still aches all over.

I will be giving two presentations at Miracle OpenWorld 2010 in April.

On March 10th I’ll be giving a presentation at Odense .NET User Group on Scalability & Availability on the Microsoft platform.

Yesterday I presented on how to use Transactional NTFS (TxF) in .NET, at the Copenhagen .NET User Group.

The session list for devLink 2009 has been announced. I’m delighted to announce that one of my abstracts was chosen - I will be speaking at devLink 2009 in Nashville, TN.

Tonight I held my SQL Server Optimization talk at ANUG. There was an impressive turnout of almost 50 people, and based on the feedback I’ve received so far, I think it went alright :)

I held a TechTalk on optimizing SQL Server 2005 on the 21st of January. I think it went well so I’m looking forward to the evaluations - please fill them out :)

I continued my TechTalk on security in the .NET framework today, taking off from where we left last time. As promised, here are the demos and slides (in Danish).

I will be hosting two TechTalks on security in .NET, at Microsoft Denmark in August. The TechTalks will be held in DANISH.

Time flies fast. Back in 2006, during my time as an MSP, I made a series of presentations on securing intellectual property in .NET code, resulting in my Securing .NET Code article. Although it’s about two years old, most points are still valid today, unfortunately.

I will be attending JAOO this year, I’m looking forward to a packed calendar in excitement:
